I keep wondering if this stuff will have an impact on the rest of us, or rather how. I assume the effects will be severe. Will the EU follow suit, for example? Will there be smaller, localized/regional “Internets”? Or will some bright kid finally come up with a functional and practical form of the sort of decentralized ghost net (fuzzy on the nomenclature here) I’ve read about? Which, incidentally, strikes me as a terrorist’s wet dream. Of course, where there’s a buck to be made…
Either way, the result boils down to who has the most money to lobby with, which means the net as we know is toast any day now.
